1. Our approach to privacy

At Origin Logic, discretion is part of the craft. We collect only what we need to answer your questions and deliver our advisory services, we use it only for the purposes described here, and we do not sell it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we handle it, and the choices available to you.

This policy applies to information collected through this website and through our consulting and system support engagements. It does not apply to the internal practices of any third-party website or service that you may reach from ours.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

When you contact us through the message form or otherwise reach out, we collect the details you choose to share, which typically include your name, email address, and the content of your message. When you engage us for services, we may also collect business contact details, billing information, and information about your technology environment that is relevant to the work.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours may automatically collect limited technical information such as your device type, browser, general location inferred from your network address, referring pages, and interactions with the site. This information helps us keep the website reliable and understand how it is used.

Information from cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies, described in our separate Cookie Policy. These may include essential cookies needed for the site to function and, where enabled, analytics cookies used in aggregate.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and provide the information you request;
  • Prepare proposals and deliver the advisory services you engage us for;
  • Manage engagements, including scheduling, invoicing, and communication;
  • Maintain, secure, and improve our website;
  • Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations;
  • Protect our rights and prevent misuse of our website or services.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we rely on one or more of the following: your consent; the performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating and improving our practice in a way that does not override your rights; and compliance with legal obligations.

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers who help us operate, such as hosting, email, analytics, and accounting providers, and who are bound to handle information on our behalf;
  • Professional advisors such as accountants and legal counsel, where reasonably necessary;
  • Legal and safety reasons, where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, property, or safety;
  • Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.

6. Client system information

Because our services are advisory, we generally work with information about your systems rather than taking control of the systems themselves. Where an engagement involves reviewing configuration details, documentation, or read-only system information, we treat that information as confidential under our engagement terms and use it only to perform the agreed work. We do not require, and we ask that you do not send us, live production credentials, passwords, or secrets. Any access we do need should be arranged through your own controls and revoked when the engagement ends.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Engagement records are typically retained for the period required to support the relationship and any subsequent obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Where you ask us to delete information and we are able to do so, we will honor that request as described below.

8. How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect the information we hold against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for the security of the information within your own systems.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which can include the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Residents of certain jurisdictions may also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Children’s privacy

Our website and services are intended for businesses and professionals. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of sixteen. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. International visitors

We operate from the United States. If you access our website or engage us from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your location. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and changes take effect when published. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we handle information.
